Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and was a fan of tough athletic games. The passion she had for sport was coupled with an innate talent for doing shows. It was evident when she won every Feis for theatre and drama in Ireland. Her acceptance was at the Abbey Theater by age 14 in which she explored her love of classical and opera. Charles Laughton became captivated with the stunning eyes of Maureen after seeing a screen test. Before casting her to star for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - a bit smaller last name to fit the marquee. Maureen was in contract with Laughton to film her next film in America at RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Notre Dame, 1939). This epic movie was an extraordinary success and her contract was taken over from Laughton from RKO. Maureen Laughton had appeared on two motion-pictures before she reached 19.
